Local SEO for your website and business information

Help customers understand what your business does and where it serves them. Local SEO can address the information on your website and, when the business qualifies, its Google Business Profile. The first step is knowing which part needs attention.

Do you need local SEO, Google Business Profile optimization or both?

Local SEO improves the information customers use to find and choose a nearby service. Work may cover your website, an eligible Google Business Profile or both. Confirm your actual service area and how customers meet you, then identify which pages or profile details need updating.

Local website SEO and Google Business Profile optimization

Your website and your Business Profile serve related purposes, but they are not interchangeable. A clear service page does not correct an inaccurate profile, and a profile update does not rewrite your website.

Buying a domain or creating a city page does not establish a new eligible business location. Compare the wider SEO service options if the problem extends beyond local information.

Which locations can be represented?

Describe the way your business actually operates: customers visit your premises, you travel to customers, or the service is delivered online. That distinction affects the website wording and whether Business Profile work is suitable.

A service area is different from an office. Do not describe a branch that does not exist or publish an address merely to target a place name. Where customers need an appointment or a particular contact route, make that arrangement clear using the business's confirmed information.

What information needs to be consistent?

Use the real business name and contact details customers can reach. Describe the services provided, distinguish premises from areas served, and update both the website and profile when the business moves or changes its services. Keep the English and Spanish pages consistent.

Confirm opening hours, address visibility and language options before publishing them. If details disagree across the website and profile, check them with the business owner. A directory listing is not enough to establish which version is correct.

How local work is prioritized

Begin with the information a customer needs to choose and contact the business. Check whether the profile is eligible, whether the right person controls it and whether the website explains the intended services.

From there, separate website edits from profile updates and agree which items will be changed. Completion checks can confirm that the approved information is published. Inquiry activity and search visibility are measured separately, using the records available.

How much does local SEO cost?

The scope depends on the locations and eligible profiles involved, the website pages that need work and the languages being maintained. A one-time correction is different from repeated updates over an agreed period.

Ask which website changes and profile tasks are included, and whether ongoing maintenance is being quoted separately. The proposal should price the specified tasks and identify any recurring fee. Review the local SEO cost factors before comparing proposals.

Questions about local search work

Can an online-only business have a Google Business Profile?

No. Google lists online-only businesses as ineligible for a Business Profile. Before requesting profile work, confirm whether your business meets Google's in-person customer-contact requirements and any applicable exceptions.

Do I need a page for every city I serve?

No. Create a city page when you can explain confirmed coverage and useful details that differ for customers there. A location name alone does not justify another page. Any local facts should have sources, dates and a clear connection to the service.

Does local SEO guarantee a Maps position?

No. Google determines Maps results, which can vary with the searcher's location and other factors. The agreed work can improve website or profile information; completing those updates does not establish a particular position.
